Joining Netflix
We rented Ray from Hastings and waited until the night it was due to sit down and watch it. We got the kids in bed, I put on my pajamas, took off my makeup, took out my contacts. We cuddled up to watch a movie together (a rare opportunity these days) and it skipped all over the place. Jumped past whole scenes. Now, this is about the 5th movie in the last year we've rented from Hastings for ourselves. It is the 4th from Hastings that has been unwatchable. So I put on my righteous indignation and drove up there in my pajamas and had it out with the night manager. I threw the raincheck back in his face (not literally!) and came home and signed up for Netflix. LOVE the website. If they come as quickly as it claims and the DVDs aren't scratched, I'm a happy camper.

There is so much to comment on I don't know where to start. Tiff loves Netflix and Blockbuster on-line. She currently has both. It's like a surprise every week or so when movies come to your house. I'm still doing the more expensive go into Blockbuster, look at all the movies, then choose but I can keep it as long as I like. Pretty good.
jake--i have no idea what kiah is talking about...too much cold medicine.
Throwing you under the bus again. Can't seem to stop. Guess it's that Anderson in me. Why worry about Jake, he's on a blog hiatus.
Why is Jake on a blog hiatus?
I thought about the Blockbuster thing, but it is absolutely miserable to take my kids to pick out movies. Unfortunately it is also miserable to go with Gene! This way I get to pick my movies in peace. (Gene's a big boy, he can get his own!)
We have the Netflix and love it! The thought of going into Hastings or Blockbuster with my kids keeps me from ever going there! The movies do arrive quickly and they also e-mail you to tell you they received the ones you've sent back and what is next out on your list. And no late fees!!!!!!!!
I think Jake is busy moving and working. It seems several people have stopped blogging and now Jodi has started up. Check her blog out...at least it's current.
I have the choose three movies and keep them for as long as you like at Blockbuster. It seems to work great for us. However, it takes the stress off of watching them in a timely manner and I have had the last 3 for about a month now. I guess I should return them.
With Netflix, do you get to pick the movies that are coming your way, or do they just send a random selection?
You create a list of movies you want to see, and they are sent to you in the order of your list.
Okay, so how is it going? Does it work well, do you wish you had different movies, and how long does it take? I would forget to return them. I'm horrible about that stuff.
I'm loving it. This weekend we watched The Last Samauri and Napoleon Dynamite. I haven't wished for different movies because I just put ones on my list I want to see! The website is awesome--you can find any movie you want along with trailers, etc. You can search based on awards, etc. You can rate movies you've already seen and it will kick out suggestions based on what you like. You keep a running list of movies you want to see, and you can re-prioritize them if you want to move something to the top. I love making a wish list. So much better than grabbing the first thing off the shelf because Zachary's tearing apart the kids' section and Elise is grabbing as many movies as she can hold! (I know what you mean though, sometimes you're in the mood for a particular genre.) The turnaround time is quick--4 days usually. So I always have 2 here. Returning is easy--they include a paid envelope so you just drop them in the mail. I LOVE Netflix!
